“Koreans are the best at video games!”… We do not often appreciate this kind of generalization. But we must admit that South Korea brings extraordinary players on stage. According to us, Young-Jin “Gamsu” Noh, professional Overwatch player for the Boston Uprising, is one of them.
Why a such qualifying adjective for a simple human being? We should note that Gamsu is evolving in Overwatch League (question about the OWL ? Check our article about it), the regular competition where the best players in the world compete. Moreover, Gamsu has also evolved at the top European level on … League of Legends! Indeed, the Korean wore the famous jersey of Team Dignitas in the North America stage. But he also played in LCS European competition for one of the most popular teams: Fnatic. He got noticed while performing very well on the toplane, giving him the nickname “Godsu”, but his lack of regularity also has put him under the light of critics.
The stop of LoL, but to do what ?
He then decides to stop LoL at a competitive level to fulfil himself in the game where he wanted to perform: Overwatch. First of all, we can admit that it was a bold choice because he was almost at the top of what a League of Legends player could dream of (the Grail being obviously a victory at the World Championship), and he decided to stop playing it to start on a game that has nothing to do with League of Legends’ mechanics!
He then tryharded the game and reached the rank 1 on the Korean server. Then, he has been recruited by a competitive team to participate in the first Overwatch League season, as a “Tank” position. The Boston Uprising are in the Atlantic division of the league, and despite an amazing start, the team seems to have lost momentum on this last step before the playoffs.
